Mars Party - A Night Sky Program
October 9th & 10th @7:00pm
West Thompson Lake, Ravenelle Rd Gate
Join lead night sky Rangers Kim and Geoff for a night under the starts in the cool crisp autumn air. This Walktober, Mars is making its closest approach on the 13th, so join our Rangers when Mars should be clearly visible. Also up in the sky will be Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune - a great night to investigate the planets. Ranger Geoff will guide the telescope while Ranger Kim points out some of the constellations and describes how to fund the North Star. The program is for all ages, no pets allowed. Bring a blanket or chair, hot cocoa and snacks, and dress for a chilly night.

One of the worst train wrecks in U.S. history took place in East Thompson in December 1891. Kearn what happened and how the tragedy set itself up. The talk will include maps and photos. Sponsored by Connecticut Eastern Railroad Museum.

Historic Thompson Hill Tour & Tea for Suffragists

Intersection of Thompson Hill Rd & Chase Rd, Thompson CT
Enjoy a one - hour historic tour of the area surrounding the Common. Starting at the Old Town Hall and ending at the Ellen Larned Museum (former stone library). While the ELM is not wheelchair accessible, a Suffragist Tea will follow outdoors under a tent. Sponsored by the Thompson Historical Society.
