This call is for an exhibition of work created using cast- off, discarded or re-purposed materials. The goal of the UPcycled Art Show is to educate the viewer about upcycling, and delaying and preventing the accumulation of solid waste by upcycling waste into art.
Works will be on display for the duration of the day.
Saturday, October 2, 2021 - 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM.
Opened to all Thompson artists of any age. There are three age categories. A Thompson artist is someone who lives, works, attends school, or owns property in Thompson, CT. Each artist may submit up to two works.
Artists are encouraged to provide a narrative documentation of their work, including why they chose their component materials, and how they were diverted from being discarded.
Any artwork that cannot be displayed on tables must have their own support provided by the artist themselves, i.e. - easels, mannequins, etc.
The Community Day Committee will be judging artwork that morning and giving out ribbons for first, second, and third place in each age category.
